Giclee Print of Vintage Peace Poster from 1968 | Etsy

Joe Simboli designed a set of War/Peace posters in 1968 in response to a call from Herb Lubalin, a well-known NYC art director for Avant Garde magazine, who was sponsoring a "No More War" contest. Deeply affected by his experience at the liberation of Ohrdruf Concentration Camp during WWII, Joe designed the posters as a reflection on the insane nature of war. The Peace design, featuring a dove with the colors of mankind in its tail, represented the USA in a worldwide UN contest. Giclee is a…

The Baby Boomers, 1944-53

In their teens and 20s in the Sixties (1964-73; not to be confused with the '60s), and in their 20s and 30s in the Seventies (1974-83; not to be confused with the '70s), the Boomers... Oh, what's the point? We all know exactly who and what the Boomers are. So I'm not going to write a single word about them. I'll just a post a list of some well-known and influential Boomers.

Milton Glaser

About a hundred years ago, the first time I went to New York, I was invited along to Push Pin Studios by the English illustrator Barry Zaid who had recently been recruited. I was lucky enough to meet co-founder Seymour Chwaste while I was there but disappointingly, Milton Glaser the other founder, incredibly talented designer, illustrator and typographer - and now very famous for creating the I [heart] NY logo, was away at the time, though I did get to have a drink with him in London in the…

Power and Liberty to All

This poster combines two powerful icons into one idea. The raised fist is a symbol of solidarity and support and the Statue of Liberty a symbol of Freedom. "The Power of Freedom" comes with the right to VOTE.
