Pabst Brewing Co. was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by Jacob Best in 1844. It was later managed by Capt. Frederick Pabst, Best's son-in-law, and named after him in 1889. It was one of the largest breweries in the country until the 1970s. The Milwaukee brewery was closed in 1996, and the large property is being redeveloped.
