Easter Island, a Polynesian island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. One of world's most isolated inhabited islands, over 2,000 miles from nearest population center (Tahiti  Chile). Known for giant stone monoliths (Moai) carved out of volcanic rock that dot coastline. People call themselves the Rapa Nui.
