Worcester State Hospital
Taken in the late 1940s - early 1950s in the Worcester State Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Massachusetts. Prior to the de-institutionalization movement in the late 1970s, the treatment for psychosis consisted of artificially inducing a seizure, whereupon this contraption would spin the patient around quickly for a few minutes. Seems like it would more encourage nausea in a patient than rid them of psychosis...
