Midnight Express, although "based on a true story", Oliver Stone's screenplay took many liberties with Billy Hayes' account of his experience and is harshly racist in its depiction of Turkish people. Having said this, it is worth watching for Brad Davis' exceptional performance, one of the all-time great Oscar snubs.
