Have an Arabic foam puzzle? Make your own Arabic letter stamps. I'm going to make these today - hope I find large enough blocks to hold the letters. The kids are going to love this. I will be buying another foam letter puzzle to replace this one!

Just add some paper clips to the foam letters and glue a magnet to a string and tie it on your chopstick and turn your bathtub or kiddie pool into a 'fishing for letters' activity. Once they catch a letter ask them which letter they caught. If they know the letter name it goes into a 'bucket' beside them, if they don't it gets thrown back (after you tell them the letter name.) Summer fishing literacy fun! (can be done with words too --> just glue your foam letters together!)

Today is Family Literacy Day in Canada! Family Literacy Day is a national initiative created by ABC Life Literacy Canada to raise awar.

I bought foam letters at Michael's craft store and painted them to look like the letters on the board game Candyland.

cut out circles from thick insulation board (bought at Lowes). I then painted each one with a different design, sprinkled them with glitter, wrapped them in cellophane and then stuck a dowel rod in them.

Shoe/sand imprints from Family Fun reader. Reader Michelle Green's great idea: "My kids and I hot-glued double layers of foam letters to the bottom of their flip-flops so that they'd leave fun prints when they walked in the sand. Just remember that the prints will be a mirror image, so arrange the letters backward."
