Atacama Desert Chile - The closest point on earth to the stars

Southern Milky Way above Mars-like red sands of Atacama Desert. The location is inside Yungay, the driest, and most sterile place on Earth. There is virtually no life on the surface of this region of Chile. The night sky from here is simply amazing.

We took a tour from San Pedro de Atacama in the Chilean Andes. As you can see, it was very cold, but hot tea and soup kept us warm. The volcano in the background is more than high! Because we developed altitude sickness, coca tea was a must!
