The Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Ely). Built on an island in the Fens in East Anglia. the original construction started in 1084. The main sections of the cathedral being completed by 1189. Building and alterations continued for many years, in 1322 the great tower over the cross of the church collapsed, and a new 'Lantern' was built to replace the tower. Explore 3rd September 2011 #210

Project 365 day 6, today I cycled into Ely first thing with the X10; the sun was trying hard to burn off the fog. Image uploaded to the iPad and processed with Snapseed. Shame the tree has been trimmed recently, health and safety!

The choir and a small orchestra were practicing in the central crossing for Sunday services during my tour. The music filled the cathedral and provided wonderful "background music" for the tour.
