The inkstone industry of Ogatsu, in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture once accounted for 90% of the production of Japanese inkstones. 日本製の硯の90％を生産していたといわれる石巻市雄勝の硯産業。しかし産業としては衰退傾向にあり、東日本大震災で町全体が壊滅的な被害を受けました。そこで、産業を元に戻すだけではなく、書道文化自体を改めて見直し、書の文化に必要な新しい硯を雄勝で形にしていくプロジェクトです。
