Selk'nam People (Shamanism/Art)

Ona were an indigenous people of S Argentina & Chile, incl. Tierra del Fuego islands. One of the last aboriginal groups in S America to be encountered by ethnic Europeans/Westerners in late 19th century. The last ethnic Selk'nam died in mid 20th century.

The Selk’nam people or Ona’s from Tirerra del Fuego, a group of Islands now belonging to Argentina. The Selk’nam are now extinct. Body paint was a essential part of daily life, designs used for hunting, combats, peace meetings and shamanistic performaces.
