The combination of the colors of each of the three fluorescent proteins gives the cell its overall color. MIT discovers the location of memories: Individual neurons. By triggering a single neuron, researchers were able to force a subject [a mouse] to recall a specific memory. By removing this neuron, the subject would lose that memory.

Pyramidal cells are a type of neuron found in the brain that integrate information received from their dendrites (branching at the bottom of the cell), process it, and transmit it to other cells through its axon (large branch emerging from the cell going upwards).

Greg Dunn is a neuroscience PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania and an artist passionate about Japanese minimalist scrolls. While these interests may appear radically incongruous, Dunn's artwork suggests otherwise.
