USS Yorktown Launched

USS Yorktown (CV 10) was christened and launched on January 21, 1943 at Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company. Eleanor Roosevelt was the ship's sponsor, and also the sponsor of the previous USS Yorktown (CV 5), which was lost in the Battle of Midway in 1942.
