This is an indian inspired cake. I wanted to create an embroidered look to the fondant base like a sari border with hints of Red and gold. The peony was red but was painted over with red luster and gold accents.
I must say I think it is one of the nicest cakes I have made to date. It was tall + the 4 " topper. The bottom tier was vanilla sponge filled with vanilla buttercream. The cake was covered with red fondant and decorated with gold edible lace.
