The Pacific wren builds its nest either on or close to the forest floor each spring. Be sure you don’t go off trail looking for it. Research shows that human activity can cause harm to the young because it makes adults have to pay attention to the perceived threat (i.e. you), it can make the parent abandon the nest or it can cause the parent to take risks by moving the young to a new location. So stay on trail and know that you're keeping babies safe and sound.
