Begur village, Spain The Begur Castle dates from the 11th Century but it was severely damaged twice by the French then later rebuilt. In 1810 the fortress was destroyed by Spanish troops to obstruct the advance of Napoleon`s army. One of my favourite things about travelling in Europe is the history. In Australia we think something is old if it was built in 1843!
