Image: Steve took it Iowa If the weather vane doesn’t warn that there’s a storm a brewing’ then the mammatus clouds certainly do – and it sure as heck hailed shortly after this beautifully composed shot was taken somewhere in Iowa.
Parinacota Volcano - an active stratovolcano on the border of Chile and Bolivia. It is part of the Nevados de Payachata volcanic group. The volcano straddles the border between Sajama National Park (Bolivia) and Lauca National Park (Chile).
The stunning image is of a rainbow cloud, captured above Mt Everest by Oleg Bartunov whilst on an expedition in the Himalayas, Nepal. The amazing rainbow effect is created when tiny ice crystals in the water vapour of the clouds reflect the sunlight.
