Almost unknown today, Captain JAMES SYLVESTER – not only carried the battle flag at the battle of San Jacinto, he also personally captured Santa Anna after the battle. He later took part in the Somervel Expedition against Mexico in 1842. Upon his death in 1882, he was interred in the Texas state cemetery in Austin.
