In this image taken by the GOES-West satellite at 8 a.m. EDT on July 10, 2013, Chantal's satellite presentation has deteriorated markedly and is barely classifiable by the Dvorak technique, a method that uses satellite imagery to estimate the intensity of a tropical system. The 5 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center on the same day indicated that Chantal had degenerated into a tropical wave.

Observations with both the International Ultraviolet Explorer and the Herschel Space Telescope have detected temporary, diffuse atmospheres of water around the dwarf planet Ceres a total of four times. (The IUE detection was of the molecule OH, which presumably came from H2O.) This artist's illustration depicts the tenuous water exosphere (note: the asteroid belt isn't actually this crowded).

Watch NASA test the 'largest, most powerful rocket booster ever built'

The world's largest solid rocket motor roared to life in Utah, but rather than lifting off the ground, the booster, laying on its side, was restrained in place as data was collected to qualify it for NASA's Space Launch System.

n this rare image taken on July 19, 2013, the wide-angle camera on NASA's Cassini spacecraft has captured Saturn's rings and our planet Earth and its moon in the same frame

The Cassini spacecraft was originally supposed to explore Saturn and its moons for a duration of four years, but due to its success, NASA extended its mission three times. Today marks the spacecraft’s tenth anniversary orbiting Saturn.
