Originally built as sanatorium and park to treat Berliners suffering with tuberculosis at the end of the 19th century, this complex of buildings was an almost self-contained village. Its medical history alone makes it interesting, as it also served as military hospital during WWI and WWII, during WWI Hitler got injured and were hospitalized here. The sanatorium is filled with memories of sickness, misery and death. It was a TB- Infectious hospital, but it has also played host to two dictators and been the scene of grisly murders, experiments as well as the setting for accidental deaths. Taken by the Red Army in 1945, It remained the largest military hospital outside the USSR until the mid-1990s. Unfortunately it has all turned into a tourist attraction with little to no access to the ruins of the buildings. Today they can be viewed on a walk at ground level, or by taking the 23 m high tree top wal
