Tiffany Dome details - Chicago Cultural Center
Built originally in 1897, the dome’s extensive restoration was completed in 2008 at the cost of $2.2 million. The dome contains about 30,000 pieces of glass in 243 sections, spanning 1,000 square feet, and held within an ornate cast iron frame. A concrete and copper exterior dome, added in the 1930’s, was removed during the restoration, allowing natural light to again shine through the glass dome.
