Caerphilly Castle is a medieval fortification in Caerphilly, South Wales. Constructed by Gilbert de Clare in the 13th century as part of his campaign to conquer Glamorgan. Gilbert began work on the castle in 1268. - the photo is of the wooden man supporting Caerphilly Castle's famous south east leaning tower. It's reputed to be modelled on Gilbert de Clare, also known as "Red Gilbert" because of the colour of his hair,who ordered the building of the castle.
