Trillium are described as “spring ephemeral” flowers, meaning they are wildflowers that develop the aerial parts (i.e. stems, leaves and flowers) of the plant early each spring and then quickly bloom, and produce seed. While they are beautiful to look at they are also extremely fragile, and picking them seriously injures the plant by preventing the leaf-like bracts from producing food for the next year, often effectively killing the plant and ensuring none will grow in its place.
Primulina pteropoda (翅柄報春苣苔)
Primulina pteropoda - photo courtesy of Mr. Campbell, thanks for his sharing. So far the wild population of P. pteropoda is considerable in its nature habitate. When no bloom is available, it is often mistaken as P. heterotricha or P. floribunda because somewhat similar to the foliage. Primulina pteropoda is magnificent plant with lime-yellow flowers during autumn to winter.
